چکیده

The multiplicity difference correlators between two well-separated bins in high-energy heavy-ion collisions are studied as a means to detect evidence of a first-order quark-hadron phase transition. Analytical expressions for the scaled factorial moments of multiplicity difference distribution are obtained for small bin size δ with mean multiplicity in the bin s ≤ 1.0 within Ginzburg-Landau description. The scaling behaviors between the moments are still valid, though they behave completely different from the so-called intermittency patterns. A universal exponent γ = 1.4066 is given to describe the dynamical fluctuations in the phase transition in small δ limit.

Multiplicity distribution in small bins is studied for second-order phase transition. Novel scaling behavior is found which can be used to detect the formation of quark-gluon plasma. Multiplicity distribution is one of the most important and most easily accessable experimental quantities in high energy leptonic and hadronic collisions. From the well-known KNO scaling and its violation [1, 2] to...

Multiplicity distribution in small bins is studied within the Ginzburg-Landau description for first-order quark-hadron phase transition. Direct comparison of the distribution with a Poisson one (with the same average) is made. Dynamical factor dq for the distribution and ratio Dq ≡ dq/d1 are studied, and novel scaling behaviors between Dq are found which can be used to detect the formation of q...

A General Signal of a Phase Transition from Single-Particle Momentum Distributions

The search for phase transitions is a hot topic in atomic and nuclear physics. Several different phase transitions are observed/or expected to be observed like 3He to 4He superfluid, Bose-Einstein condensation, liquid to gas nuclei and hadronic matter to Quark Gluon Plasma (QGP). The QGP phase transition is predicted by lattice QCD and several QGP signals have been suggested[1], although no con...

Energy-momentum tensor correlators and viscosity

Collective flow has been observed in heavy ion collisions, with a large anisotropic component, and ideal hydrodynamic calculations had significant successful in describing the distribution of produced particles at the RHIC experiments. In order to account for this near ideal fluid behavior, the shear and bulk viscosity of the quark gluon plasma (QGP) must be computed from first principles in a ...
